About : Do you work in the food industry?

The Consumer-Centric Design in NPD & AI and Project Management for NPD: Strategy, Execution, and AI Integration courses aim to equip participants with essential skills for developing innovative products and managing projects effectively. While rooted in established methodologies, both courses integrate AI-driven tools to enhance decision-making, creativity, and efficiency in product development.

The New Product Development Training “NPD Skills” courses organised in April 2025 will be held on the following dates: :

  • 02 & 04.04.2025 (Consumer-Centric Design in NPD & AI) - Recruitment had ended.
  • 14, 15 & 16.04.2025 (Project Management for NPD: Strategy, Execution, and AI Integration) - Recruitment is open until the 8th of April.

Participants choose which of the two courses available in April they would like to attend by indicating their preferences in the application form.

Analyse the food system using a range of systems approaches to appraise current and future sustainability challenges.

Implement innovative responses to address sustainability challenges in the food system.

Data management

Appraise the efficacy of different digital tools and sensing methods to acquire, manage and manipulate data. 

Devise effective data management protocols.

Design effective actions to mitigate key unintended consequences of the use of information technologies.

Implement adequate data security measures.

Problem solving

Appraise the problem space to identify current and future needs. 

Mobilise effective methodologies to generate new ideas.

Appraise the validity of new ideas and co-create sustainable solutions.

Entrepreneurship

Create opportunities for social and environmental value creation.

Mobilise resources to create sustainable value for others.

Design and implement effective actions to deliver impact.

Who can attend : The Training is designed for food professionals who wish to improve their competencies in a particular area.

The ideal applicant should:

- Be a food professional employed in companies, academia, or research institutes

- Have an entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving and a willingness to share their knowledge with other participants of the New Product Development training

- Have relevant knowledge and experience in the food sector (please check each workshop on the Competency Framework to make sure it fits your needs and experience well 

- Have working knowledge of the English language (the course will be held in English)

- Be a citizen of one of the RIS countries, including:

  • EU Member States: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain.
  • Horizon Europe Associated Countries: Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel
  • Outermost Regions: Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Réunion, Martinique, Mayotte and Saint-Martin (France), the Azores and Madeira (Portugal), and the Canary Islands (Spain).

Consumer-Centric Design in NPD & AI

Competency Focus: Problem Solving & Food Systems, Level: Practice

This course introduces participants to the principles of consumer-centric innovation. It provides hands-on experience in defining target consumer personas, generating creative product ideas, and validating concepts using AI-powered insights.

  • Key Topics:
    • Consumer-centric product development strategies
    • Design thinking methodologies
    • AI-enhanced persona creation and consumer insights
    • AI-powered ideation and brainstorming
    • Concept validation and AI-assisted testing

By the end of the course learners will be able to:

  • Choose appropriate tools to facilitate idea generation and screening,
  • Develop skills to build concepts based on the persona approach,
  • Apply techniques that facilitate consumer-centric co-creation to assess current challenges and envision future sustainability solutions within the
  • food industry,
  • Comprehend and apply the principles of design thinking in NPD to implement innovative responses.

Project Management for NPD: Strategy, Execution, and AI Integration

Competency Focus: Entrepreneurship & Data Management, Level: Practice

This course explores essential project management methodologies, emphasizing structured planning, execution, and monitoring while integrating AI for enhanced decision-making and project efficiency.

  • Key Topics:
    • Project scope, risk, and resource management
    • Scheduling and budgeting techniques
    • AI-driven project forecasting and risk mitigation
    • Machine learning for project optimization
    • Case study-based learning with real-time applications

By the end of the course learners will be able to:

  • Identify what information is needed to plan a New Product Development project  in the food industry scenario,
  • Plan and execute a New Product Development project, incorporating previous experience and lessons learned from other new product development processes in the food industry,
  • Apply project management tools to the New Product Development process.

NPD Skills Training enables participants to select their preferred thematic route, allowing them to develop their unique competencies and choose courses aimed at a specific area of new product development.
