EIT Food Education Celebrates Impact Milestones: Empowering Learners and Farmers Worldwide

In a testament to its commitment to empower the brightest minds all over Europe and beyond, arming them with skills and expertise, to drive innovation and positive change in the food industry, EIT Food Education proudly announces significant milestones achieved, showcasing the immense impact of its programmes on learners globally.

40 000 learners in Skill-based Programmes

With a community of over 40,000 learners engaged in skill-based programs, EIT Food Education has empowered individuals and organisations to unlock new opportunities and spearhead transformative initiatives within the food sector. From sustainable agriculture to food entrepreneurship, these programmes equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed to address complex challenges and drive meaningful progress.

Based on our extensive experience in food industry and innovation, we have defined 8 specific competencies needed to transform the food system.

The EIT Food Competency Framework identifies the key competencies and capabilities required for innovators and entrepreneurs to possess to drive effective change in the food system. Each of these consisting out of four competency levels. Ranging from exploring the foundations of the skill, to possessing the ability to positively transform the food system as we know it.

Combining these competences and levels makes it possible for professionals to advance their careers in the agri-food sector and to guarantee the quality of their education.

226 000 learners in MOOC's (Massive Open Online Courses)

 

Moreover, EIT Food Education's online courses have reached an impressive 226,000 learners worldwide, transcending geographical boundaries to spread knowledge and foster innovation on a global scale. 

Through accessible and interactive learning experiences, individuals from diverse backgrounds have been able to enhance their understanding of key issues in the food system, paving the way for collaborative solutions and impactful change.

 

 

40 startups created by our Education Alumni Network

 

 

The impact of EIT Food Education extends beyond traditional educational settings, as evidenced by the creation of 40 dynamic startups from its alumni network. 

These ventures, fueled by a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, are driving tangible change in the food industry, from sustainable production methods to novel food technologies, thus contributing to a more resilient and sustainable food ecosystem.

Just to name a few : Holiroots, Revo Foods, Banabooms, Incredible Bakery Company, DeCarbon8+, Kasoda, ...and many more to come.
