How did you find your way into the Startup scene?

Tetiana Siianko Eriksson her story serves as a testament to the life-changing opportunities presented to the WE Lead Food Alumni. Tetiana has not only embraced the challenges of entrepreneurship but has also redefined the narrative of professional development in the food sector.

Tetiana’s inspiring career journey started in Ukraine – she was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, where she graduated with a Master's degree in Arts. After working for several years in advertising, publishing and FMCG industries as a Brand, New Product and Marketing Manager, Tetiana felt the urge to put her own creative ideas to the test and dive into the world of innovation and technology. She applied and was offered a prestigious position at Ericsson in Stockholm, and started working in the Innovation Management department of this multinational company.

After completing her 1-year placement at Ericsson, Tetiana participated in a hackathon for the first time in her life, where she, not knowing what a startup was, pitched an idea and launched a company within 54 hours. Her team, which took the second prize, continued working together on developing the product within art-tech, getting into the startup acceleration programme and resulting in raising pre-seed investments.

Embracing the value of learning by doing and skills development in entrepreneurship

Her entrepreneurship journey continued with another venture, Flowersense, where she gained invaluable experience and skills in raising investments, business development, product marketing strategy, fundraising and financial forecasting. Having launched 2 startups in 2 years, she knew that there was no going back from the startup world for her.

Tetiana says that participating in hackathons and learning by doing through starting venture companies had a huge impact on her career and that one can sometimes learn more in a startup accelerator than completing a degree in a university. Feeling empowered by this experience, she continued working with startup communities like Stockholm’s Startup Grind and Techstars Startup Weekend – an event series designed to help educate, inspire, and connect local entrepreneurs and help other innovators develop their skills. This helped her to successfully grow her professional network and learn the value of engaging in the same cause.

What led you to uncover the world of food technology?

After moving to Sweden conclusively, Tetiana was engaged in organizing Startup Weekend and Startup Grind in Sweden and TechStars Startup Weekend globally internationally, managing hundreds of volunteers and showing great dedication to helping entrepreneurs to the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. Eventually, through good results and the network that could vouch for her, Tetiana took on even bigger endeavours, like joining the organizing team of STHLM Tech Fest (one the largest startup conferences in Sweden) and Sweden Demo Day – the most spectacular un-conference for the startup ecosystem in the Nordics.

At this event, she met Johan Jörgensen from Sweden Foodtech, and got her first introduction to the world of food technology. It resonated a lot with what Tetiana believed in and she felt fascinated by the potential to use her skills and network to help accelerate innovation for the future of food, and moved to work in this organization. Since 2017, Tetiana has been managing the foodtech acceleration programmes and helped build a stronger ecosystem around foodtech. Through her work at Sweden Foodtech, she learned about the programmes of EIT Food and decided to apply for the very first WE Lead Food Program for Women’s leadership development.

WE Lead Food as an inspiration to launch your venture in the Food Sector

During the course of WE Lead Food programme in the autumn 2019, Tetiana reconnected with another participant, Nutrition MSc graduate Dasha Shvaikovskaya, with whom they shared a joint passion for entrepreneurship and innovation in food sustainability.

By that time, Tetiana had been entertaining the thought of launching a foodtech startup for a while, and connecting over exercises and discussions at WE Lead Food, Tetiana and Dasha decided to explore the opportunity to work on a venture together.

The power of the WE Lead Food Network

With their personalised nutrition startup, No MoonShot, Tetiana and Dasha got accepted to a renowned early stage accelerator – Antler Stockholm in August 2020.

Over 3 months, two WE Lead Food alumni have been developing the startup "No MoonShot"- a web and mobile app that supports nutritional accuracy, translating blood, DNA and microbiome data into a hyper-personalized diet for optimal health and performance.

The idea sparked a lot of interest from both their networks and ecosystem players, but due to some personal matters, Tetiana and Dasha had to pause their startup journey.

Develop your leadership skills to drive transformation

This WE Lead Food power duo reconnected again after a couple of years and carried on their passion for sustainability and healthtech: in 2022, after returning from maternity leave, Tetiana started a new job as a Program Manager for GovTech Startup Incubator, running a unique programme for B2G/B2G HealthTech startups with a special focus on the public sector as a client.

While supporting startups with a focus on health and welfare, Tetiana continued developing her leadership skills, applying her previous experience in running startup programmes in a new GovTech context.

Dasha joined her team in April 2023, and the two WE Lead Food Alumni continued to drive transformation in the health sector together.
