One million talents skilled in Deep Tech by 2025!

That is the goal!

To create a steady supply of European talents and close the skills gap, we need to skill, up-skill and re-skill 1 million people by the end of 2025.

“The Deep Tech Talent Initiative is a flagship programme under the New European Innovation Agenda, the European Commission’s instrument to position Europe at the forefront of the new wave of deep tech innovation. The Initiative is a key endeavor of the EIT Community - a collaborative network comprising the EIT’s Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) that harnesses the collective expertise of the KICs to power innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity in Europe. Through the Initiative the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem, will train 1 million people in deep tech areas.”

The Initiative

To achieve the goals of the Deep Tech Talent Initiative, deep tech courses will be offered by the EIT as well as funding to develop and scale new or existing learning materials in deep tech. In addition, the EIT will also mobilise its network of over 3200 partners to create a powerful alliance of training providers, companies, higher education institutions, public authorities and financing partners. They will all contribute to the objectives of the Initiative through the Pledge for Deep Tech Talent. Any organisation with an interest to participate in the creation of Europe’s deep tech talent pool is invited to join the Pledge.

What is deep tech?

A new wave of innovation is emerging rapidly throughout the world with the power to drive innovation across the economy and society: deep tech. Deep tech is rooted in cutting edge science, technology and engineering, often combining advances in the physical, biological and digital sphere. Learn how we define deep tech and which deep tech fields are targeted under the scope.

The Pledge

On 11 October 2022, during the EIT Summit, the EIT announced the Pledge for Deep Tech Talents – a vehicle for partners and sponsors to join the initiative and contribute to the development and delivery of its courses and training.
The Pledge unites public and private organisations, industry representatives and champions, academic partners, education providers, and Member States to support the initiative. It will also create synergies with other EU programmes and Agencies.
