The winners of EIT Food's Inspire Impact 2024 took centre stage at PitchMeBaby – Vol. 23 in Warsaw, presenting their innovative startup idea, LoopChar, to a diverse audience of investors, industry experts, and entrepreneurs

The event provided a platform for these aspiring innovators to showcase their solutions aimed at transforming the food system.

PitchMeBaby is a recurring event where founders refine their pitching skills through community and investor feedback. 

Held at various locations across Europe and beyond, PitchMeBaby focuses on delivering honest and constructive feedback to help founders enhance their pitches. 

EIT Food was the official partner for this edition.

LoopChar - combating climate change by converting agricultural waste

In an event focused on sustainability-oriented ventures, Roberta Lavezzari from Italy and Jan Brunzel from Germany pitched their innovative startup, LoopChar, receiving enthusiastic feedback from the audience. 

Roberta, a marketing professional, and Jan, a chemistry student, joined forces in the RIS Inspire School – Student Entrepreneurship for an Agri-Food Ecosystem Recovery (SAFER), to address a pressing challenge in the food system. Their startup idea, LoopChar, aims to enable circularity and sustainability by converting agricultural waste into biochar

This versatile product can be utilised as a renewable energy source, a means to enhance soil health, and a solution for carbon sequestration, making it a crucial tool in combating climate change.

Roberta & Jan sharing their experience with the Inspire Programme

Attendees applauded their passion for the solution and their determination to deliver an effective pitch—an experience that can be daunting for many new entrepreneurs. 

As part of the event, Ravi Audichya represented the Inspire Programme’s core team and delivered a short presentation on the programme, highlighting its role in fostering early-stage entrepreneurial talent and supporting impactful innovations to drive the transformation of the global food system.

“During student clinics, the experts presented us with many challenges and helped us fine-tune our idea,” said Roberta. 

Jan emphasised the programme’s accessibility, stating, “The Inspire Programme provides a great opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds to learn from experts and create change.”
