Fix the system, not the women!

Inspiring podcast with Dr Shima Barakat and Dr Maarten van der Kamp on gender equality and women leadership in the Food Industry!

International Women's Day 2024

To mark International Women's Day, the EIT Food Fight Podcast host Matt Eastland welcomes Dr Shima Barakat and Dr Maarten van der Kamp for an inspiring conversation on GenderEquality and women leadership in the FoodIndustry.

Fix the system, not women. Women’s leadership development programmes are often focused on changing women to fit into a stereotypical, often ‘masculine’, leader. This is because we all buy into the myth that women need to develop and adapt to the system.

We believe in equipping women leaders to think about what they can do to change the Food System.

Women bring diversity to teams, a wider perspective of society, innovation impact and unbiased views on startups from underrepresented communities

5th Anniversary WE Lead Food

Join us in celebrating the fifth anniversary of WE Lead Food – our training programme and network of women leaders and entrepreneurs to drive change, innovation and sustainability within the food sector.

Throughout the years we had 223 participants from 50 different countries!

So you can really say, it is becoming a worldwide network!

As part of WE Lead Food and its alumni, your will be broadening your Leadership Network to cover the entire world, which provides increased access to information, career opportunities, from employment to co-creation of new projects and ventures, collaboration on grant applications, pitching for funding, markets, resources, partners and more...

Advantages for Women Leaders

This programme provides you with the space and time you need for more strategic and innovative thinking. We will work with you to:

  • Explore and develop your entrepreneurial self and your leadership self
  • Define your vision for a more sustainable food system
  • Devise a plan to realise your vision

You will also connect with women from across the world, from diverse professional backgrounds, who share your passion and commitment to creating a better food system.

We love diversity, and so all backgrounds and disciplines are welcome, from research, business, policy, and civil society.

We don’t discriminate on age and take a broad view on leadership from graduates who have taken a leadership role, founders of local charities, public sector managers, entrepreneurs, senior managers in industry and more.
